Mr. Jang has built his legal career on a foundation of justice, strategic thinking, and relentless advocacy. As a former Deputy District Attorney, he brings extensive courtroom and litigation experience to clients facing serious legal challenges across criminal defense, personal injury, and commercial real estate law.
Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Jang worked in commercial real estate. His background includes hands-on experience in development, leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, and the full range of transactional and operational matters that arise in commercial real estate matters. This early career foundation gives him a business-savvy perspective that benefits his clients today, especially in real estate and contract-related disputes.
Andrew earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from UCLA, where he developed a sharp analytical mindset and a commitment to pursuing justice. He then earned his Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School through its rigorous SCALE program. This accelerated program compresses three years of legal education into two highly rigorous years without any breaks. While at Southwestern, Mr. Jang was recognized for academic excellence and professional promise as a recipient of both the Wildman Schumacher and Leichtman Levine Scholarships.
During law school, Andrew also completed a highly selective internship at Levine Leichtman Capital Partners, a private equity firm managing approximately $10 billion in assets. In a year when the firm typically chose two interns, Mr. Jang was the only one selected. He was chosen over candidates from both law schools and business schools after a multi-round evaluation process. His time there provided valuable insight into corporate finance, business strategy, and institutional operations—knowledge he continues to apply in his legal practice.
After passing the California Bar Exam on his first attempt, Mr. Jang began his legal career at a respected law firm in Century City. There, he handled complex consumer protection litigation and honed his skills in written and oral advocacy. He later entered public service as a Deputy District Attorney, first in Santa Barbara County and later in Los Angeles County.
While in Los Angeles, Andrew was assigned to multiple courthouses across the county. His primary work was at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in downtown Los Angeles, where he served in the Preliminary Hearing Unit. In that role, he handled hundreds of preliminary hearings and prosecuted a wide range of serious and violent felonies. These included attempted murder, robbery, grand theft, burglary, firearm and weapon charges, DUIs, and more. His trial experience is extensive, and he achieved a 90 percent conviction rate during his time as a prosecutor.
Mr. Jang also served in a supervisory role, overseeing interns and law clerks assigned to the Preliminary Hearing Unit. He trained and mentored future attorneys as they prepared and conducted hearings and trials. His deep trial knowledge and litigation experience allowed him to manage their work effectively and ensure the highest standards of advocacy.
Today, Mr. Jang is the founder of Jang Trial Law Firm. His practice focuses on criminal defense (including DUIs and misdemeanors/felonies), personal injury litigation, and commercial real estate matters. He approaches each case with the precision of a prosecutor, the insight of a business advisor, and the commitment of a trusted advocate.
When he is not in the courtroom, Andrew enjoys hiking, exploring new restaurants and cuisines, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
